1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before?
The stupid act that I committed tends to overshadow anything else in terms of “things I did that I’d never done before”
2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t make New Year’s resolutions, but what I wanted was to get over my addiction to male attention and stop trying to impress guys who were no good to me. So far, so good, but I also haven’t had the opportunity to really test it.
3. What countries did you visit?
None
4. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
It would be nice to meet a guy that I actually like.
The Libertarian Fellowship. But in 2003, I said basically the same thing (it was for the summer version of the it) and I didn’t get that, and well, here I am 6 years later and I still haven’t gotten a job in DC.
5. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory?
March 17-18. November 24
6. What was your biggest achievement of the year??
Approximately 270 days and counting. Nothing is quite as intoxicating as sobriety. It’s made every bit of my life better.
7. What was your biggest failure??
Everything that happened the first quarter.
8. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Heh. Well I didn’t get my usual fall colds, so that was nice.
9. What was the best thing you bought?
My car and a lot of clothes even if they are for a job I don’t have yet.
10. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My parents. David. Timothy & Ben (my internet-stranger-friends). Ellie (for making the move & for getting the job). Joe – for being an awesome friend and especially for the driving those mornings in May because he absolutely did NOT have to do that, and did it anyway.
11. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The first quarter of the year, my own. For the second year in a row, O-L-B’s, although this time it was from the periphery, and I’m pretty much over it at this point.
12. What did you get really, really, really excited about??
Driving again. Going to inauguration.
13. What song will always remind you of 2009?
Gotta Be Somebody – Nickleback
Smile – I forget who sings this, but I have this random person in my life who makes me smile at the weirdest times and who has no real obligation to make me smile, and I am so grateful for this bit of happiness in my life.
Cowboy Casanova – Carrie Underwood
Waking Up in Vegas – (because it was always on thea radio in the morning, and lets face it, it’s catchy as hell)
14. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
Happier.
15. What do you wish you’d done more of?
I don’t know. Socializing, maybe.
16. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Less self destructive behavior, less spending.
17. How will you be spending Christmas?
The usual – Chinese food and hanging out with the immediate family.
18. Did you fall in love in 2009?
No. That would require actually meeting a guy.
19. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
No.
20. What was the best book you read?
I don’t even know.
21. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I can’t say I had one.
22. What did you want and get?
For things to go smoothly on November 24. A phone interview for the Libertarian Fellowship. An in person interview for the Libertarian Fellowship.
23. What did you want and not get?
I don’t know. I made it a point not to want much of anything this year.
24. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 26 and felt old. My boss let me leave work early, since it was the day before Memorial Day weekend. I went out for Middle Eastern food with my parents. It was another boring birthday.
25. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Knowing that all my recs were in for the Libertarian Fellowship.
26. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
I work in a fairly empty office. I wore jeans, a t-shirt and flip-flops to work probably everyday from May to October.
27. What kept you sane?
David. My internet-stranger-friends via g-chat, the occasional outing with Joe in O-Town, my job.
28. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most??
Christopher Meloni and Jon Stewart are my standards. Hugh Laurie too.
29. Who was the best new person you met?
Did I meet anyone new? Certainly no one who qualifies.
30. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009?
That one day at a time isn’t as much bullshit as I thought.

Between this and your bravery in pursuing the Libertarian Fellowship, I could not be more proud of you if I were the democratically elected Kittens and Pride Executive Officer of Libertopia.
