1. What did you do in 2004 that you’d never done before?
Took the subway in Manhattan. Went to Amsterdam. Went on “real dates”

2. Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
It’s amusing to see that one of my wishes for the New Year was that any of the Democrats would beat George Bush, and then I wound up just not caring about politics anymore

3. What countries did you visit?
The Netherlands and Belgium at the very beginning of the year, yay Model EU

4. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
A job in Europe

5. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory?
January 12, February 12, June 30, August 7, November 4, November 11, December 8.

6. What was your biggest achievement of the year??
Eliminating melancholy

7. What was your biggest failure?
Shutting up when I should have spoke up.

8. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing a little willpower couldn’t solve

9. What was the best thing you bought?
My Powerbook. I was converted to Macs and it was the best computer decision ever.

My friends should be celebrated for their awesomness

12. What did you get really, really, really excited about??
That I graduate next Tuesday. Also, being a “smart woman reduced to nothing”

Lots, depending on what part of 2004.

Infinitely happier.

15. What do you wish you’d done more of?
I wish I spent more time with various people

Worry, obsess, cry.
But, no regrets

Jewishly

Well. There were Hobbes, Nietzsche, Tocqueville.

I hate Marx more than I ever thought possible

I wanted to find “whatever the fuck I’m looking for.” I mostly have

24. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 21 and Xina made my go to a bar at midnight even though I was really hung over from drinking half a bottle of Smirnoff the night before. It was the worst beer I have ever had. I got hit on my a man old enough to be my father. Four Seasons was on fire and Xina and I yelled “Burn hippies, burn.” Then I went to part of graduation, drove home from Skidmore, disaster ensued, spent hours on the side of 87, and finally got home and had dinner with my parents and my second legal drink.
Eidetic memory.

25. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Hm. I guess the summer-October could have gone a lot better, to put it mildly

26. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
I would defer to Evan on this

Brent, my brother, taking long drives, books, Dar Williams music, writing,

Jon Stewart

29. Who was the best new person you met?
Shaun because the 16 hours I spent with him changed my life, Laura, even though I technically met her last yaer, the café superheroes
